Without creativity, the meaning of life is fleeting.

That being said, it is important to incorporate some kind of creative outlet into your life and try to find inspiration as often as possible.

Now, some of you are cringing at the word 'creativity' – disgusted by the very notion of that hippie bullshit. Oftentimes, I think that people shy away from creative ventures because they think they lack those talents. Here's something all the artists are hiding from you: creativity is not a privileged ability. We are all creative. Maybe it's the way you write. Or the way you dribble a basketball. Whether you match Picasso's talents or you simply doodle in your notebook – you are creative. We can all find creative inspiration in our daily lives.

Here's how to become inspired:

1. Consume all the books, music, art, and movies that you can. Pick up things you think you wouldn't normally like. Become a media-whore, and the rewards will be endless.

2.  Don't just listen the the Top Ten hits on the radio and watch whatever is on Bravo. Rummage through the past. Listen to music in other languages. Shop places besides the mall. Try watching a local channel or browsing through the endless resources on places like Hulu or ….. illegal sources ;)

3. Keep a camera with you at all times. Seriously.

4. Sharing is caring. I love to shop in my friend's personal libraries or share music with them.

5. Think about what consumes your mind. It could be school, work, fitness, money, or stress. That's okay. Bland topics can make great art too.

6. Keep notebooks and pens everywhere. Most of the time, when I am inspired I am driving. My trusty notebook waits for me in the glove box – and all of my notes are messily written like this:

7. Alcohol never hurts.

Okay, so now that you are inspired – how do you utilize that in your everyday life?

Next week we will take a look at taking all that inspiration you mustered up and putting it into action!

Here's a couple of sites to get you pumped up:
